I Saw Death.

September 27, 2011 at 3:44 pm (Uncategorized)

I saw death yesterday in a chipped part of my room’s door. Ajar, the golden rays of the sun, like the ethereal rays of a savannah, shined through the door’s slit- pouring into these eyes, and snatching all optimism away…

…And one cannot just focus on light. Their mind, as if in suo motu, grasps the immediate next successor- darkness.

This is why and how and when a child is reminded of death when you have whispered ‘life’ in her ear.

Next to my room’s door was parathion; insecticide. Death sprinkled around the room, death waiting to be sniffed on. And no- death did not leave me to love and life’s mercy- I merely glanced upwards and stared at it in the form of a clock. A pink clock with it’s ticks and shadows- an atom bomb ticking life away.

Below the pink, was something I had written on a piece of paper on the wall:

O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

And be not like those who forgot Allah (i.e. became disobedient to Allah) and He caused them to forget their ownselves. Those are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

(Surah Al Hashr, Verses 18-19, Extracted from the Holy Qur’an).
